Back to Chile, 2016, Vignette # 12

In Chile, the persistent theme of conversation for me has been diversity and the need to decolonialize the education system that is disciplining Haitian and African children/youth into becoming “Chilean”. This is in a context where indigenous peoples of these lands have been erased, Chilean cultures homogenized and where an antiquated immigration law persists. I see immigrants/refugees doing all the 3D jobs and a hierarchy of rights operating along the lines of nation and race. Canada gave me these lens. And this week I beam with hope and excitment that Migrant Dreams will air on TVO. Migrants of the world unite!
