I remember being laughed at in school for not speaking English and bullied for being “different” as in not “white”. I used to come home crying almost every day, taunted by the boys in elementary school who literally pointed their fingers at me calling me “ugly” to my face. Humbly, I must admit that sometimes I do not know how I still managed to find myself and my voice but I am glad that I did and here I am using it with and for my community.

Always be humble but we also need to recognize and embrace our #perseverance and the determination of our #Spirit that got us through and kept us alive.
